Los Angeles, CA (September 27, 2019)— Early this year, we shared our plan to ramp-up a system-wide approach to integrating Problem-Solving across Los Angeles County. Starting October, 现金娱乐网注册's Problem-Solving unit will set off on a training campaign to provide free training to service providers and other interested stakeholders.
PROBLEM-SOLVING PRESENTS A CREATIVE SOLUTION TO A COMPLEX HOUSING PROBLEM
Problem-Solving is a person-centered, short-term housing intervention that seeks to assist households in maintaining their current housing or identifying an immediate and safe housing alternative within their own social network. This strategy is a strengths-based approach that utilizes conversation and empowerment methods to help resolve the household’s housing crisis, or quickly connect them to existing emergency or crisis housing services, by working alongside them in an empowering manner.
IN RESPONSE TO THE CURRENT AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS AND LIMITED RESOURCES
It is 现金娱乐网注册’s mission to shift to a Problem-Solving focused culture by integrating this intervention throughout all facets of the system. The goal is to divert 20% of individuals or households at an entry point of the homeless system, as well as to help them to move more rapidly through the Coordinated Entry System (CES). This approach will help individuals or households safely avoid the stress and trauma of homeless episodes, as well as target resources more effectively.
COMPREHENSIVE INTERACTIVE TRAINING
Gain skills like practice active listening, motivational interviewing, reality testing, empowerment, negotiations and mediations. The training will also cover how to request financial assistance appropriately. Access to financial resources will only be available to providers who have completed the official 16-hour Problem-Solving training.
